American Surfaces in Berlin

This past Sunday in Berlin, perhaps in registering a long-brewing homesickness, and blindly following some magnetic pull towards what would cure me – or maybe just finally resolving to fix the problem of my own boredom on a day in a city where everything is closed* – I found myself making a spontaneous visit to Amerika Haus, a.k.a. the new-ish home of the C/O  Berlin Gallery

Adam Markovitz: The Weather Is Never Good in Silicon Valley

I left Brooklyn for California four months ago, which is long enough to get used to buying wine at the grocery store, but short enough that I still remember things like what a real bagel feels like (tough) and where to wait on the G platform (the middle) and when a true gentleman should sit down on the subway (never, according to my friend Tony). I miss all the obvious stuff: friends, taxis, foldable pizza. I knew those would hurt, and they do. But I didn’t know I’d miss clouds. (Image via pixabay.)

Megan Adie: A New Kind of Synchronization

Noon. It is the quiet part of the day, the time before they’ve woken up. With some exceptions: a few, now, have babies, and occasionally record signs of their early mornings on the internet. But for the most part, they are in their beds, still, arms flung over heads, covers bunched around feet, dreaming their third set of the night’s dreams.
